PROJECTS COMPLETED

Projects Managed for Others

I’ve worked with a variety of clients, homeowners and developers. I adopted various roles, tailored to their needs. As a designer, I created the layout and floor plan of their homes. I made fixture and architectural selections: doors, moldings, cabinets, colors, flooring, counters, and plumbing, lighting, the ‘just right’ paint color, lighting warmth and more. Working together to create a cohesive design and style.

For my out-of-state developers, I managed it all. Came up with the design and floor plans, all of the specifications to build by, made all of the selections (with their input), hired and managed the contractor, conducted site inspections, carefully oversaw the details needed to comply with historic guidelines and made sure the utilities were on in their name!

Prior to developing and project management, Julie owned her own remodeling business. Unfortunately she does not have photos of some of the incredible old houses she renovated. Julie’s office flooded in Hurricane Katrina, along with the backup computer that contained the photos. However, 2 decades of experience still remains.

Personally Owned and Developed

A NEW HOUSE

This is a carefully crafted home that I developed, owned, designed and built with the intention of selling it (and did so). This house may not have the fancy features found in a high-end residence because it is located in a modest area. However, genuine effort was put into providing as much value as feasible, given the price point. This home features attractive Craftsman style accents both inside and out, designed to blend in with the neighborhood’s character. Notice the unique trim around the windows and doors, the single cove crown molding, and the tall baseboards. They combine to emanate a warm and inviting environment that is the essence of Craftsman style. At the time this house was developed, building new houses in a Craftsman style was unique.

Personally owned and developed a challenging old house remodel!

“I purchased the property seen below because it had ‘good bones’ and a great location near the French Quarter. Plus bought it at a great price. I personally did it all on this one. ALL of the design other than the decor (wall hangings, furniture) where I hired design input. I acted as the general contractor to breathe new life into this home. It became a beautiful vacation rental that my guests absolutely loved. It was challenging, given how distressed it was (it teetered on the edge of a tear down). Plus, we had to meet strict historic guidelines both inside and out.” – Julie

The before, during and after photos below show the process of the above old house remodel.
