THE NEST BUILDERS TEAM EXEMPLIFIES EXPERTISE AND CARING.
The owners, Julie Groth and Charlene Fedoroff, obsess over every detail, both large and small.
Also, with my green building background, I had to ensure that the home was healthy. (See Livability).

Old House Charm
New Orleans exemplifies old houses, rich in character and beauty. Therefore, in an older neighborhood, we believe that a new house should nestle into its surroundings — as if it’s been there for years.
Sometimes, the city requires character and is, in fact, very strict about it. We have several historic districts, for which the HDLC (Historic Districts Landmarks Commission) oversees design and construction of all construction on all new and existing houses. And they are picky! All exterior details must be approved to ensure updates retain the character of the neighborhood. Countless details on the doors, moldings, columns, railing caps, degree of slope on the window sills…everything.
From a developer’s or builder’s perspective, it’s difficult. Many new materials don’t always lend themselves to the required ‘old house’ look. There are numerous details that must be accounted for and, oftentimes, invented.
Nest Builders believes that new houses should fit in with their surroundings, even when not required by HDLC.
